With one scholarship still to fill for the 2017/2018 season, the Green Bay Phoenix coaching staff continued to host prospects on campus in hopes of landing the final piece for next season’s roster.

The latest (and final) prospect to take an official visit to Green Bay was Hunter Crist, a 6’2″ combo guard who played last season at Don Bosco Prep in Crown Point, Indiana.

Crist committed to Green Bay on Thursday afternoon after being offered a scholarship from head coach Linc Darner during the visit.

The Arcadia, IN native was a standout at Hamilton Heights High School and was an IBCA All-State Honorable Mention selection following his senior season in 2016.

Prior to attending prep school Crist was being recruited by Indiana State, Mercer, Boston University, Western Illinois, Lipscomb, and Belmont among others.

He visited Purdue-Fort Wayne back on February 11th and was also scheduled to visit Southeast Missouri State and Horizon League rival Oakland as well this summer according to the Indiana Basketball Source but chose to commit to Green Bay.

Crist will help solidify the Green Bay back court and provide another ball-handler. The current guard depth chart consists of 6’3″ senior Khalil Small, 6’2″ sophomore Avery Brown, 6’2″ freshman PJ Pipes as well as the versatile 6’5″ Kameron Hankerson.

He could also help provide some much needed outside shooting as he has shot above 40% from beyond the arc for his career, according to the IN Basketball Source.

Crist, who will have four seasons of eligibility, completes Green Bay’s massive 2017 recruiting class which includes prep players Trevian Bell, PJ Pipes, Will Chevalier, and Manny Patterson; JUCO players Sukhjot Bains and TJ Parham; as well as Division I transfers Sandy Cohen and Cody Schwartz.

The Phoenix return just four scholarship players from last season’s team.
