In a game full of highlights – including dunks, three pointers, and a half-court buzzer beater to end the first half – only one caught the eye of ESPN’s flagship TV program.
Donavan Short, the 6’10” true freshman from nearby Denmark, WI, slammed home a vicious dunk with his right hand with less than two minutes left in the first half, sending the Green Bay bench and season-high crowd of 4,290 fans at the Resch Center into a frenzy.
After catching the ball near the three point line in stride, Short took one dribble and threw it down over IUPUI’s 6’9″ forward Jonah Carrasco. After the game, head coach Will Ryan lobbied for the play to be featured on SportsCenter during his postgame press conference and the ESPN Assignment Desk obliged.
Short buried a big three-pointer in the second half to help the Phoenix win 68-61 finishing with a productive 5 points and 2 rebounds in 8 minutes of action.
He joins Terry Evans and Keifer Sykes as GB players to be featured in SportsCenter’s Top Ten.
